Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen appointed as INTERPOL Chair of the Victim Services and Offender Management Sub-Group


Protect Children is delighted to announce that our Executive Director Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen was appointed as the INTERPOL Chair of the Victim Services and Offender Management Sub-Group during the 40th Operational Meeting of the INTERPOL Specialist Group on Crimes Against Children.

This prestigious appointment is a testament of Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen's ongoing dedication and unparalleled expertise in addressing the complexities of crimes of sexual violence against children from a holistic approach. Her passion and commitment to improving the global response to victim and survivor services and offender management will undoubtedly lead to significant initiatives within INTERPOL.

In her speech, Vaaranen-Valkonen expressed her deepest gratitude to her colleagues for granting her this important responsibility and promised to use all her background knowledge, training and experience to make a meaningful difference. As Vaaranen-Valkonen expressed: 'Knowledge is the key for efficient crime prevention'.

'Over 30 years ago I started my career in Sri Lanka and I have dedicated my life to working with victims and survivors. As Chair of the group I will use all my background knowledge, training and experience to improve the response to these areas and would leave no stone unturned in my commitment to ensuring we do everything we can to get our response right - victims deserve nothing less.', Vaaranen-Valkonen reflected.
