In these workshops, children practise and develop essential digital safety skills for different situations they may encounter in their everyday digital lives.
What should children know when they come across something online that is familiar and enjoyable, new and thought-provoking, or strange and frightening?
Children explore a variety of online situations, topics and the questions they raise in an age-appropriate way.
During the workshop, children create their own digital traffic lights as a craft activity.
These workshops are supported by DNA.
About the workshops
Our online workshops help children develop essential safety skills
During these online workshops, children develop essential emotional awareness and safety skills in a fun and engaging way through crafts and open discussion. The workshops are led by specialists from Protect Children and are free of charge.
Separate workshops are available for children aged 5–6 and 7–9. Through the sessions, children explore key messages and practical tips related to emotional wellbeing and personal safety.
The adventures of Fun Academy's Kip Crew characters introduce each workshop theme. During the sessions, children are encouraged to talk openly about emotions, safety skills and the thoughts they inspire. Different situations and the questions they raise are explored together, using traffic lights as a simple discussion tool.
Parents and carers are also welcome to join the 5–6-year-olds' workshop, for example when attending with children who require additional support. Both age groups cover the same topics and the activities are largely the same, but the younger children's workshop uses, for example, simpler stories and shorter discussion activities.
