Suojellaan Lapsia/Protect Children Executive Director, Senior Specialist Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen was invited to participate and lecture at the expert meeting 4.- 5.3.2020 Oslo ”Ending Sexual Slavery of Children” with UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of Slavery Ms Urmila Bhoola.
During the last 20 years, the world has rapidly become inter-connected through technology. With millions of children active online, offenders are able to contact children everywhere. The Special Rapporteur emphasised that new technologies are leading to new forms of exploitation, such as forcing children to participate in online sexual exploitation.
We Suojellaan Lapsia/Protect Children have strong expertise related to preventing online child sexual abuse and exploitation. Our directors have worked years with the victims of sexual crimes and their families. As part of their work they give expertise to Project Arachnid to fasten the removal of illegal CSAM.
”Studies have shown that the traumatization of the victim is more severe when sexual crime is recorded and distributed online”, says Executive Director, Senior Specialist Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen.
The expert meeting 4.-5.3.2020 was organized by ECPAT Norway, Rafto Foundation and King Institute.
