Updated: Jul 21, 2022

Today, the 2022 Child10 Awarded Members were launched in a digital, live-streamed ceremony. The ten organizations come from all around Europe and have been selected for their work against human trafficking and other forms of commercial sexual exploitation of children. Their work has been acknowledged by H.M. Queen Silvia in a special appearance during the ceremony. As part of the program, they will collaborate on the widespread problem of commercial sexual exploitation of children via digital platforms, to discuss best practices and find durable solutions. One of the awarded organizations is Protect Children.

“Protect Children brings a much-needed offender-focus prevention to the conversation about commercial sexual exploitation and sexual abuse which is instrumental to addressing demand. Their ReDirection research provides critical insights into perpetrators and will be extremely beneficial in designing more effective prevention programs. We are proud to have them as a Child10 Awarded Member for 2022 and excited for this collaboration”, says Jacob Flärdh, Secretary General, Child10. As part of the program, Protect Children will work together with the nine other Awarded Member organizations on the theme “Slipping through the net – Trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children via online platforms”. They will develop best practices, raise awareness of the problem of exploitation via online platforms and advocate for sustainable and effective solutions at national, regional and international level. “We are honored to be one of the Child10 Awarded Members. Our team of specialists have worked hard and this acknowledgement from H.M Queen Silvia means a lot to all of us. Through our innovative work we have been able to gather new and valuable information to prevent crimes of sexual violence against children online. Our collaboration with the other Child10 members further strengthens our work to protect children” says Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen, Executive Director, Senior Specialist and psychotherapist, Protect Children Protect Children will also receive a financial grant of 100,000 SEK from Child10´s main partner, Her Majesty Queen Silvia´s Foundation “Care About the Children”. “To have the opportunity to support Child10 and the Awarded Members in their work against human trafficking and other forms of commercial sexual exploitation of children feels incredibly important to us. From the beginning, Care About the Children has aimed at supporting the most vulnerable children in Sweden and in the world, and together with these organizations that work directly with these children, we get the opportunity to do so”, says Thérèse Blixen, Managing Director, H.M. Queen Silvia´s foundation “Care About the Children”.
