Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen

Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen is the Co-Founder, Executive Director and Psychotherapist at Protect Children ry.

She brings over 30 years of experience in the health sector, dedicated to protecting children from all forms of sexual violence, particularly online child sexual abuse and exploitation. Nina actively contributes to various governmental and international expert working groups, leveraging her extensive clinical expertise in supporting victims and survivors of sexual violence and their families.

In 2024, Nina was appointed as the INTERPOL Chair of the Victim Services and Offender Management Sub-Group during the 40th Operational Meeting of the INTERPOL Specialist Group on Crimes Against Children. She represents Protect Children at the EUROPOL Advisory Group on Research & Development (AGRD). Nina has dedicated her career and life to furthering the rights of the child and especially the rights of victims of sexual violence.
