Image-based sexual violence can have profound and lasting impacts on victims and survivors. Yet many experiences remain unheard and underrepresented in the research that informs policy, prevention, and support services.
To help address this gap, Protect Children has launched Through the Lens, a global research study exploring the experiences of people affected by image-based sexual violence.
The study aims to build a deeper understanding of how image-based sexual violence affects people's lives, identify opportunities to strengthen prevention efforts, and generate evidence that can improve support for victims and survivors around the world.
Who can take part?
The study includes two anonymous surveys for adults aged 18 and over:
Abuse in childhood: for adults who experienced image based sexual abuse before the age of 18 (currently available in English, Finnish, French, Spanish, Russian, German, Portuguese, Uzbek, Tajik, Kyrgyz, and Kazakh).
Abuse in adulthood: for adults who experienced image based sexual abuse at the age of 18 or older (currently available in English, Spanish, French, and Finnish).
Participation is entirely voluntary and anonymous. Participants can skip any question or leave the survey at any time, and no identifying information is collected.
If you are interested in helping us share the survey in your country, or translating the survey into a new language, please contact: Tegan Insoll tegan.insoll@suojellaanlapsia.fi
