Spot the Signs: A Guide for Youth on Manipulation, Red Flags, and Safety in Online Chats
This support guide offers youth vital information about how to spot warning signs in online chats, and what to do if they feel unsafe.
Most importantly, this guide reminds youth that they are not alone in dealing with the online world and that there is no shame in asking for help. Receiving concerning messages or finding themselves in uncomfortable situations is never their fault and turning to a trusted adult is never a bad idea.
This guide was developed in collaboration with our Summer 2025 intern Katie Lindqvist and produced as part of our Early is Best project, which aims to promote the well-being and protection of children and young people from sexual violence through comprehensive, research-based methods.
