Executive Summary

There is a high prevalence of sexual violence against children in Spain. In particular, the creation, dissemination and use of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) has dramatically increased in Spain. Recent cases of AI-generated CSAM depicting girls and adolescents in Spain underline the importance of taking immediate action to tackle this issue.

This statement presents key findings from Protect Children’s latest ReDirection report on Spanish-speaking CSAM users in the Dark Web, which highlight the urgency in addressing CSAM-related offences and effectively protecting children.
