Our Voice Survivor Group Meeting Room

Meeting in Helsinki

On Friday, April 19th, we organized a meeting of Our Voice group in Helsinki. The meeting was attended by 18 survivors of childhood sexual violence from all around Finland.

During the meeting, we got to know each other, and the survivors shared their own experiences and feelings related to the topic. One survivor commented on the event: "I felt seen, respected, and acknowledged by the organizers, but also by the other participants."

Many participants expressed their desire to be more actively involved in the advocacy work of Protect Children and found the activities of Our Voice group meaningful: "With every step we take, we rise, we influence things, we speak out as intended about sexual violence. Thank you for allowing us to build a better tomorrow together."

The Future of the Group

Participants discussed the development of Our Voice activities and future plans. Suggestions included regular meetings with other group members, a podcast series, participation in professional training, and preventive advocacy work targeting youth. The proposals arose from the participants' desire to share their voices and wisdom to prevent childhood sexual violence, break the silence, and develop support measures for survivors.

Participants provided valuable ideas for the future activities and meetings of the Our Voice group and expressed gratitude for organizing face-to-face meetings and the overall work of Protect Children, saying, "I want to thank you for the high-quality evidence-based work you do. It touches and deeply moves, it's difficult to put into words.
